As a great fan of the Solar Impulse 2 project it was amazing to see the landing in California after a risky three-day flight across the Pacific Ocean. In 2015 started the attempt of the First Round-The-World Solar Flight, from Abu Dhabi to Hawaii, already achieving the longest solo solar flight ever made in aviation history. Behind Solar Impulse’s achievements, there is always the same goal: show that if an airplane can fly several days and nights in a row with no fuel, then clean technologies can be used on the ground to reduce our energy consumption, create profit and jobs.
This pioneering spirit is a good example and simultaneously a great inspiration especially to young people, inventors and entrepreneurs that we are able to overcome technical, human and operational challenges that have never been faced before. This is exactly the impulse mankind needs, to solve the huge problems of the 21st century.

Pollution is a global problem and smog costs billions. With smart ideas for clean air, a lot of money can be earned. A genius concept from a German company is about to break through. Their first big Asian-premiere, CityTrees just had in Hong Kong. The former British crown-colony is troubled by smog as well as China in general. In a few weeks, in May, the CityTrees will be placed in Wan Chai, one of the strongest frequented areas in Hong Kong. More CityTrees shall be placed within this year. We congratulate to this success.
The CityTree is a solution, based on natural elements, to reduce the air and heat stress in urban areas. It serves for the cultivation of plants in a vertical growing system. CityTrees combines latest Internet of Things technology (IoT) with the natural ability of special moss cultures, particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and thereby is able to filter large amounts of CO2 equivalents out of the air. Vertical mounted on a freestanding wall and optimally supplied by the IoT technology, the moss filters are 200 times more effective than all other biogenic solutions on the market. This CityTree is mobile and flexible due to its own water tank and an own photovoltaic system in the room put up.
Germany to introduce e-car incentives of 4,000 euros
Germany to introduce e-car incentives of 4,000 euros
Germany's government and the car industry have agreed on introducing an incentive of 4,000 euros for electric car buyers and 3,000 euros for those purchasing a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The government will also invest additional 300 million euros for e-car charging station infrastructure.
A well-developed network of charging stations will be the key for opening the door to the mobility of the future. Ubitricity GmbH, one impressive SEA submitter of the past shows that there are very innovative and much cheaper alternatives to the very expensive conventional charging infrastructures. RWE AG, one of the biggest European energy companies cooperates with that German start-up and since beginning of April they have the first charging station into operation, which uses a lamppost as a power source. Ubitricity works since the end of 2014 on this concept.

Sustainable Innovation: Build Your Company’s Capacity to Change the World (Innovation and Technology in the World E)
Edited by Andrew Hargadon (2015)
If we can carry in our pockets more computing power than the Apollo program needed to put a man on the moon, why can't we solve problems like climate change, famine, or poverty? The answer lies, in part, in the distinctive challenges of creating innovations that address today's pressing environmental and social problems. In this groundbreaking book, Andrew Hargadon shows why sustainable innovation—the development of financially viable products that support a healthy environment and communities—is so difficult when compared to creating the next internet ventures or mobile apps that disregard these criteria.
