Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT)
Austrian start-ups generate ideas, that might change our lives. But often the protection of these ideas fall by the wayside in the hectic of the founding process. Hence to this the temporary patent application PRIO, the FFG-Funding-Funding Patent Cheque and the ultrafast trademark registration of Fast Track are saving the intellectual property of start-ups.
The new safety package of the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) and the Austrian Patent Office (ÖPA) for founders supports innovative young entrepreneurs. The safety of technological inventions, trademarks and design are indispensable during the founding process – if there is no safety, the company runs in danger to lose their existence.
Within only a few weeks, start-ups receive their own safety package including their own trademark, and a patent cheque worth of 10.000€ from the Austrian Research Promotion Agency ( FFG). With this patent consultancy, national and international patent costs and the patent attorney can be paid for, as well as the possibility to provisionally register an not yet formulated technical idea.
This customized support with the patent cheques are available just within a few clicks under: www.ffg.at/patentscheck. Here start-ups get competent advise, if their innovation is patentable. Additional Bonus: 80 % of the costs (up to 10.000€) are covered by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
With PRIO, the provisional registration of the Austrian Patent Office (starting 17.10.2016) start-ups gain time and safety. PRIO early on secures the ‘birthday’ of the applicants innovation – with this the ‘date of origin’ can be proven at any time.
Trademark protection is as important as patent safety. With Fast Track, the new online-trademark registration from the Austrian Patent Office a registered trademark will be received.

Climate Change: What Everyone Needs to Know® 1st Edition
by Joseph Romm (2015)
Climate change will have a bigger impact on humanity than the Internet has had. The last decade's spate of superstorms, wildfires, heat waves, and droughts has accelerated the public discourse on this topic and lent credence to climatologist Lonnie Thomson's 2010 statement that climate change "represents a clear and present danger to civilization." In June 2015, the Pope declared that action on climate change is a moral issue.
This book offers the most up-to-date examination of climate change's foundational science, its implications for our future, and the core clean energy solutions. Alongside detailed but highly accessible descriptions of what is causing climate change, this entry in the What Everyone Needs to Know series answers questions about the practical implications of this growing force on our world.
